VAT Registration Required (Tanzania) (January 27, 2026)
Summary:
– Starting March 1st, 2026, SafariBookings will accept payments in Tanzania exclusively from VAT-registered companies
– To avoid disruption to your business, please submit a digital copy of your VAT certificate (see example) as well as your TIN and VRN numbers to your billing profile
– Reverse VAT applies: We will not add VAT to your invoices; you are responsible for accounting for it with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA)

VAT Registration Required (South Africa) (Sept 10, 2025)
Summary:
– South African tour operators will need to provide a valid Value Added Tax (VAT) registration number for their company to be able to keep adding funds to their SafariBookings account starting January 1, 2026
– In 2026, you will no longer be able to add funds without a VAT registration number linked to your SafariBookings account from South Africa

Kenyan Tax Regulations and Your Invoices (July 17, 2025)
Summary:
– To ensure compliance with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) we will begin adding 16% VAT and 3% SEP tax to all invoices for Kenyan operators, effective August 1, 2025.
– Our solution is to pass these new tax costs on to the traveler by adjusting the marketing budget on your tours from 10% to 12%.
– This adjustment is optional; you can contact support to have it disabled for your account.
– Payments will be unavailable on July 31 to prepare for this change

Change to min. payment percentage (ZA & BW) & block local requests (September 13, 2024)
Summary:
– The minimum payment percentage for quote requests to South Africa and Botswana will be increased from 1.0% to 1.5%.
– A reminder will be sent a week before this change takes place on October 1.
– Additionally, tour operators can now block local quote requests.

Change to Minimum Payment (March 26, 2024)
Summary:
– Starting from Monday, April 15, 2024, the minimum payment percentage for receiving quote requests for tours to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will be increased to 1.5%.
– The email explains why, and how tour operators will also benefit.
– The minimum payment increase will be applied automatically on April 15, 2024.
– This change will be applied to other countries later this year. We will email tour operators about this in advance.
– Quote requests for tours to 16 countries will remain free and the discounts offered on quote requests for certain countries will stay the same. Learn more

Important Change to Tour Rates on SafariBookings (September 15, 2023)
Summary:
– To help tour operators make more profit, a 10% marketing budget will be added on top of all tour rates starting October 2, 2023
– When you sell a tour at the higher rate that includes the marketing budget, the extra money will be yours to keep
– The Best Price Guarantee (according to our Terms & Conditions) continues to apply

Fake Review Policy (January 27, 2023)

– SafariBookings has a strict policy against operators submitting fake reviews to our website
– Tour operators that violate this policy will have their SafariBookings account suspended
