What Happens When You Reach a Negative Balance

  • Updated

When you receive quote requests, the value of the request is deducted from your total balance after the request is accepted. However, once the balance falls below zero (€0.00), the default settings are that your tour listings will automatically be paused after three days, or if your balance drops below -€250.00, whichever comes first.

How to Manage Your Costs Effectively:

To prevent a significant negative balance in your account, we suggest you take the following steps:

  • Accept new requests as soon as they come in. Delaying acceptance could result in a higher negative balance before the system pauses your account.
  • Set up a balance alert to receive a notification when your limit has been reached.
  • Add a Monthly Spending Limit so that you never pass a certain amount in one month.

Setting Up a Balance Alert

Balance alerts allow you to manually pause your account before it goes below zero, or give you time to add more funds before they run out.

Monthly Spending Limit

Another way to manage your costs effectively would be to add a monthly spending limit.

This will automatically pause all your tours as soon as you receive a quote request that will result in your monthly limit being reached. Your tours will automatically be reactivated at the start of the next month, unless you remove or increase your spending limit.

Requesting to Change Your Settings

If you prefer to have your profile set up so that your account doesn't have the €250 credit period, nor receive the payment delay of three working days, you can email us at support@safaribookings to request that we change your billing settings.

The system will then automatically pause your tours when your funds fall below zero (€0.00). However, it's important to note that the system only considers your current balance and will continue to show your tours as long as your balance remains above €0,00. The system does not take into account the total cost of any pending requests that you have yet to accept.

For example, if your balance is €5 and you receive a new request with a cost of €15, accepting this request will cause your balance to drop to -€10, triggering the system to pause your tours.

However, if your balance is €5 and you have three pending requests with costs of €15, €20, and €30 respectively, your tours will remain online. It is only when you accept the first request and your balance falls to -€10 that the system will then pause your tours. The other two requests will still need to be accepted; which will then take your balance to -€60.
