Selling tours via marketing platforms such as SafariBookings costs money. On SafariBookings, these are the costs you pay for receiving quote requests. To help you and other operators pay for these costs, a 10%* marketing budget is automatically added on top of the tour rates you provide. When your tour is shown to clients on the SafariBookings website, it will be advertised at this higher rate that includes the marketing budget. When you sell your tour at this higher rate, the extra money from the marketing budget will be yours to keep and can be used to pay for future quote requests. That way, the extra money will cover most or all of your SafariBookings costs.
How it works
- You upload a tour to SafariBookings with a rate of $1000 per person.
- The SafariBookings system will automatically add a 10%* marketing budget on top of the tour rate (in the example, 10% would equal $100).
- When the tour is shown to clients on the SafariBookings website, they will see the price as $1,100 per person.
- When you receive a quote request, the cost for the quote request will be based on this $1,100 per person.
- When responding to the quote request, you can offer the tours for $1,100 per person.
- When clients book the tour, the extra $100 per person that was added is yours to keep and can be used for future quote requests.
Why an automated marketing budget is added
We have learned that many operators do not include marketing costs in their tour rates. As these costs can go up to 10% or more, there is often little or no profit left for operators. We have also learned that many operators are not aware of this issue. To help tour operators make more profit, a 10%* marketing budget is automatically added on top of all tour rates.
*Note: For Kenya, a 12% Marketing Budget is added by default to cover Value Added Tax (VAT) and Significant Economic Presence (SEP) taxes. You can opt-out for this additional 2% by contacting us. Read more
Not applicable to your company profile
On SafariBookings, clients can either request a quote for the tour packages you have uploaded or they can request a quote for a custom tour on your company profile page. Please be aware that a marketing budget is only added to your tour rates and therefore only applies to quote requests received via your tour pages. The added marketing budget does not apply to quote requests received via your company profile page.
Best price guarantee
On SafariBookings, you offer your tours under a Best Price Guarantee. This means that if you offer the same or a highly comparable tour on your own website (or other sales channels owned by you, such as your social media accounts), it must be offered at (or above) the tour rate that is advertised on SafariBookings. As adding a 10% marketing budget will increase your tour rates, you should check if you need to increase your rates on your website as well.
