Our ranking algorithm takes into account various factors, including the availability of each tour (e.g. "Uncertain," "Not Available," and "Short Notice"). Only if potential customers don't select a departure date, we check the percentage of time a tour is available throughout certain periods in the year (see below). If this percentage is lower than 80%, we rank that specific tour lower in the list shown to these clients (if a traveler does enter a Start Date, your tours rank as normal).
| Month | Percentage of availability during the period: |
| January | Until 30 September (the same year) |
| February | Until 30 September (the same year) |
| March | Until 31 October (the same year) |
| April | Until 31 October (the same year) |
| May | Until 31 December (the same year) |
| June | Until 31 December (the same year) |
| July | Until 31 December (the same year) |
| August | Until 31 December (the same year) |
| September | Until 31 August (the next year) |
| October | Until 31 August (the next year) |
| November | Until 31 August (the next year) |
| December | Until 30 September (the next year) |
Example
Let's imagine that it's July 23rd, which means there are 160 days left this year (using December 31st as our end date according to the table above).
Let's say you have blocked 30 days in November and 15 days in December, as being unavailable for a specific tour.
That means the tour is unavailable for 45 days out of the 160 days remaining, coming to a percentage of 28%.
This tour is therefore available for 115 days out of the 160 days remaining in this year, which accounts for 72% of the time, lower than the 80% threshold.
To ensure an optimal user experience, we prioritize tours with higher availability percentages (above 80%). This means that tours with lower availability, such as the example above, will be ranked lower compared to those with a higher availability percentage.
We recognize that this may result in fewer requests for some tours. However it's important to understand that our algorithm is designed to promote tours with a higher chance of availability if a Start Date has not been selected. This is done to improve the user experience and increase the likelihood of clients finding the tour they are searching for.
This ranking algorithm only kicks in when a potential client didn't select a Start Date when starting his search. If they do enter a Start Day your tours will rank as normal.
