Having a clear understanding of your dashboard is key to keeping track of your performance on SafariBookings, and can give you suggestions on what might need to change to see improved success.
Your results
This is a basic summary of the most important metrics used to judge your performance on the platform. The time range is for one year by default, but this can be set to any custom range.
To ensure your dashboard is accurate, remember to manually update all the requests you receive to either 'Booked' or 'Not Booked' once you receive confirmation from the client. If the client does not confirm after three months (or after the travel date has passed), then it can be changed to 'Not Booked'. This should always be changed later if the client does eventually travel with you.
Additionally, if you ever want more information, there are small tooltips (marked by a question mark) in the top right corner of each block that provide more details on how that block is calculated.
These numbers are generated using only the quote requests that you have confirmed to have either 'Booked' or 'Not Booked'. The requests that are still undecided will be judged separately.
Revenue
All the income generated from the requests that resulted in a booking. This includes the extra 10% received from the Marketing Budget.
Costs
The total costs you paid to receive all the quote requests you've received over this time period. This includes requests that resulted in a booking, as well as those that did not.
Quote requests
A visual representation of the total number of quote requests you received, as well as what portion of those requests resulted in a booking, did not result in a booking, or were declined.
RPB
The RPB, or Requests Per Booking, refers to your conversion rate. This is how many requests you need to receive to convert one into a booking (on average). It is calculated as the total number of requests you've received, divided by the number of 'Booked' requests in that time period.
In the example above, it would be 120 / 20 = 6.0
CPB
The CBP, or Cost Per Booking, refers to your Costs as a percentage of your Revenue.
In the example above, it would be € 10,000 / € 100,000 x 100% = 10.0%
On average, your CPB should aim to be under 12%, and your RPB should not be above seven. If both RPB and CPB are too high, you should consider what could be changed to improve performance, or make a call with the support team to get advice.
Marketing Budget
The marketing budget is 10% of your Revenue, and is received on top of the cost of the tour. The marketing budget can be used to pay for future quote requests. Having a direct comparison between how much you're spending on marketing and how much budget you have available for marketing is a great way to keep track of your profits. Read more about the Added Marketing Budget.
Still open requests
The requests you received that are not yet confirmed as 'Booked' or 'Not Booked' are viewed separately.
New quote requests (0-3 months old)
These are requests received in the past three months. We recommend keeping the booking status as 'Still Open', unless you have confirmed that the client will not book.
Old quote requests (3+ months old)
If these quote requests did not result in a booking, we recommend changing the booking status to 'Not Booked'.
Costs
This refers only to the costs of your 'Still Open' requests.
Revenue forecast
To assist you in planning your future budget, SafariBookings estimates the revenue you will receive from your requests that are still open. This is either done using your own RPB (if there is enough reliable data), or using a platform-wide average RPB of six.
Your revenue forecast will be based on your own data if you have:
- 100 quote requests received in the last 365 days, and
- Less than 15% of these quote requests have ‘Still Open’ as booking status.
This will return a more accurate and realistic forecast based on your own performance than a forecast estimated with the platform-wide average.
The forecast is then generated by taking the value of the 'Still Open' requests, divided by your RPB (or the platform average of six).
This is just an estimate, and the true value of your converted requests could be different.
Compare your performance with others
Sometimes, it helps to compare your performance with other operators to see where you stand and where you can improve. At the bottom of your SafariBookings dashboard, you’ll find a performance comparison table.
It shows key metrics like your Costs, Revenue, Cost Per Booking (CPB), and Revenue Per Booking (RPB), but also includes two other sets of statistics: the average across all operators on the platform, and the average of the top 100 performing operators.
Use this data to spot trends, benchmark your results, and identify opportunities to improve performance.
