Ranking System, Recommendation Labels & Filter Options

  • Updated

At SafariBookings.com, we are dedicated to connecting travelers with tours and operators that best match their preferences. Our platform uses an integrated system that combines filter options, a ranking mechanism and recommendation labels to help travelers find their ideal safari. Understanding how this system works can help you optimize your visibility and attract more clients.

Filter options

Travelers can narrow down their search results by using a variety of filters, such as destination, tour duration, comfort level, price range, average review rating and much more. When filters are applied, all tours or tour operators that do not match the selected filters will be removed from the results.

This is why it is important that you upload a diverse range of tours to SafariBookings.com. If the tours you offer are limited in terms of destinations, duration or comfort level, they might not appear when travelers apply specific filters. Read more about how travelers use SafariBookings

To help tour operators with this, we offer the Tour Competition Checker. This tool provides insights into popular combinations of destinations, tour durations and comfort levels, as well as the level of competition. You can use this data to better align the range of your tours with traveler preferences.

Ranking system

A higher ranking in our search results will increase your visibility, allowing more travelers to discover your tours and company. Our ranking system uses a combination of key factors to determine who appears first in the search results. These factors fall into three main categories:

  • Payment per quote Request
As a tour operator, you pay SafariBookings to receive quote requests from travelers. Offering a higher payment per quote request will result in a higher ranking for your tours and company profile listing.

  • Performance
The ranking of your tours and company profile listing is also influenced by their overall performance. Performance is evaluated based on factors such as client review ratings, interest levels (such as how many people request a quote for a tour), response time to quote requests and other key performance factors.

  • Relevance to traveler searches
Relevance factors help determine how well a tour operator matches a traveler's search criteria. For example, if a traveler from the USA searches for a Tanzania safari, the system may give a small ranking bonus to tour operators based in the USA or Tanzania.

The final ranking is determined by a combination of payment, performance and relevance factors. While offering a higher payment per quote request will always increase your ranking, it does not guarantee the top position. Tours that perform well and closely match traveler search criteria can still outrank higher-paying tours.

Recommendation labels

To help travelers quickly identify top choices, we highlight tours using two recommendation labels:

  • 'Best Seller' label
This label is given to tours that receive more quote requests than others. Only tours that have obtained a minimum number of requests qualify. If more than two tours are eligible on a page, only the two that have received the most quote requests will be given the label. That way we keep the label meaningful. This also means a tour might appear as a Best Seller in one set of results but not in another.

  • 'Top Rated Operator' label
This label is given to tours offered by the top 50 highest-rated tour operators on SafariBookings.com. To be eligible for this label, operators must meet our criteria for a minimum average rating and number of reviews.

Bringing it all together

Our filter options, ranking system and recommendation labels work together to help travelers find tours and tour operators that match their preferences. Travelers begin by using filters to specify the type of safari and preferences they desire. The ranking system then organizes the filtered results by analyzing factors such as performance, relevance and paid placement. Finally, recommendation labels highlight tours that are particularly popular or offered by highly rated operators.

We encourage you to actively monitor your performance metrics, payment levels and tour offerings to enhance your presence on SafariBookings.com. We are committed to continually refining our platform and systems to ensure a fair and transparent experience for both travelers and tour operators.
